While Wisconsin has abolished the capital penalty, Dahmer’s 15-year life sentence appears to indicate that he will be executed there if he is not placed in solitary confinement for the remainder of his life. Christopher Scarver administered the deadly blow, putting an end to the man known as the ‘Milwaukee Cannibal’ after only two years and two failed attempts.

At the time of his arrest, Dahmer had killed at least 17 victims, most of them young gay or non-Black men. Before killing them, he beheaded some, ate the body parts of others, and tortured others. In the eyes of many, Dahmer’s demise was a gift, eroding even the toughest moral rules. It’s difficult not to when you hear that he drilled a hole in the skull of a 14-year-old and poured acid into his brain. But what occurred to Christopher Scarver and why did he do the crime? Here is the history of the serial killer and his current location.

Why was Christopher Scarver incarcerated?

Christopher J. Scarver Sr., born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1969, was initially incarcerated for the 1990 murder of Steve Loman, a training program assistant. Scarver, a high school dropout, received carpentry training through the Wisconsin Conservation Corps Work Program. Director Edward Patts has assured him that he will be offered a full-time position upon the conclusion of the project, therefore he is optimistic that he will receive such an offer.

Scarver returned to the center to face Patz when the position never materialized (Patz was sacked before it was possible). Scarver had been using marijuana and drinking heavily for years at this point. A voice in his thoughts began to inspire him by proclaiming that he was “the chosen one.”

On 1 June 1990, Scarver returned to the Corps Center to face them and sought down Pats’ successor, 27-year-old Steve Loman, and field manager John Fine. He brandished a gun at Loman and demanded money before shooting him in the head after receiving only $15. Even though Lohman is already dead, Scarver will shoot him twice more.

Fein offered Loman $3,000 and his credit card in order to save his life. Scarver was swiftly apprehended, and he was arrested with the stolen cash, weapon, and credit card. He was found guilty of murdering Lohman and sentenced to life in prison. Later, he stated that he was aware of his wrongdoing and was uncertain as to why he was acting so irrationally considering he had no prior convictions or troubles.

In 1992, he was moved to the Portage, Wisconsin facility Columbia Correctional Institution. At the time of the murder, he had lately expressed a desire to become a first-time father and was evicted by his mother (according to The New York Times).

Why did Christopher Scarver desire Jeffrey Dahmer’s death?

Christopher Scarver made international headlines on November 28, 1994, when he killed Jeffrey Dahmer with a prison weight bar. The then-25-year-old guy also attacked and killed Jesse Anderson, who was convicted of murdering his wife. At the time of the attack, all three were engaged in cleaning duties, and the guard was left alone in the locker room for 20 minutes.

It should be noted that both the Dahmer and Anderson murders had a significant impact on Milwaukee’s race relations, as the majority of Dahmer’s victims were people of color — primarily black or Hispanic — and Anderson initially asked police to investigate the two black leaders he claimed to have murdered. Some view this as additional motivation for Scarver. However, officials do not believe that the murders were racially motivated.

Scarver stated in a 2015 interview with the New York Post that he killed Dahmer not because of his horrible crimes of murder, dissection, and cannibalism, but because Dahmer seemed unrepentant and even joking about them. “He crossed the line in his interactions with detainees and prison staff. “A number of prisoners repented, but Dahmer was not one of them,” he told the newspaper.
