An 88-year-old woman from Wilmot Township passed away after she was discovered by Waterloo regional police. Saturday around 1:20 p.m., police reported that emergency services responded to a medical issue on Sandhills Road in Baden.

A woman was discovered dead upon the arrival of emergency personnel. Police and the Office of the Chief Coroner deemed the death suspicious. Monday night, officers remained at the residence due to an ongoing incident.

Neighbors confirmed to CTV News that 88-year-old Viola Erb, one of the company’s founders, resided at the address. Police have not yet identified the deceased. At the time of the announcement, the Erb Group of Companies confirmed Viola’s death but did not disclose a cause of death.

In 1959, Viola helped her husband Vernon establish the Erb Group of Companies. The family in Baden still owns the firm. The neighbors of Viola’s church lamented her demise and said how much she will be missed. As the investigation continues, the police department requested that anyone with information contact them.
