Polestar is a 2017-launched Swedish premium EV brand that presently provides two electrified models: the Polestar 1 PHEV and the Polestar 2 BEV. The Polestar 3, the manufacturer’s first all-electric SUV, will make its public premiere in October. A second SUV, aptly named Polestar 4, has been announced but has yet to be revealed. In July of last year, the CEO of Polestar disclosed the price ranges for Polestar 3 and 4.

In the fall of 2020, Polestar will announce that the Precept concept will be transformed into a production model, and will release a documentary series chronicling the vehicle’s design process. A year later, Polestar announced that the Precept would be renamed the Polestar 5. The Polestar 5 made its first public appearance (although camouflaged) at the Goodwood Festival in July, ahead of its 2024 production.

Polestar 6 is scheduled for release in 2026, including 500 special versions.

In a press release issued today, Polestar announced the name of its newest electric vehicle, confirming the arrival of a new model that many fans of the company had hoped for since the debut of the O2 concert in Los Angeles in March. Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, explained the decision: Consistent with what we learnt during the O2 event in March, the Polestar 6 will ride on the automaker’s proprietary bonded aluminium platform and will be built in-house.

To commemorate the Polestar 6’s uncommon and welcome transition from concept to the production model, the EV manufacturer will produce 500 numbered “Polestar 6 LA Concept edition” vehicles. This initial and special run of roadsters will feature a “Sky” blue exterior (as seen above), a light leather interior, and 21″ wheels – all of which were featured on the original Polestar O2 concept.

Here are some performance specifications:

  • 800-volt electrical system layout (also confirmed for Polestar 5)
  • Dual engine drivetrain
  • 884 horsepower (650 kilowatts) and 663 lb-ft of torque (900 Nm)
  • 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration target of 3.2 seconds
  • The desired maximum speed is 155 mph (250 km/h).

Polestar electric roadster idea

CEO of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath, explains, “Due to the enormous consumer and press response, we have decided to put this gorgeous roadster into production, and I am so pleased to see it become a reality.” “The Polestar 6 is the ideal combination of electric power and the exhilaration of driving with the top down.”The Polestar O2, unveiled in Los Angeles in March, is an electric roadster concept that builds on the design, technology, and sustainability goals of the Polestar Precept and demonstrates the brand’s vision for the future of sports automobiles.

The hard-top convertible will be constructed on Polestar’s unique aluminium-bonded base. It will employ the high-performance, 800-volt electric architecture that has previously been confirmed for the Polestar 5. This includes up to 884 horsepower (650 kW) and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque from a dual-motor drivetrain, a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint time of 3.2 seconds, and a maximum velocity of 243 kilometres per hour (155 miles)
