Specifications of RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 graphics processing units

The graphics processing units (GPUs) of the Nvidia RTX 40-series are part of the brand-new Ada Lovelace generation, which Nvidia claims is 50 percent faster than the Ampere generation. The most powerful card, the RTX 4090, has 24 gigabytes of GDDR6X video memory and is touted to be four times as fast as its predecessor, the RTX 3090 Ti.

It also features a basic clock speed of 2.23GHz and comes equipped with 16,384 CUDA Cores. The maximum overclocking speed of the GPU is 2.52 gigahertz. There are 1,321 Tensor-TFLOPs, 191 RT-TFLOPs, and 83 Shader-TFLOPs contained within it.

As a point of reference, the RTX 3090 Ti has a boost frequency of 1.86 GHz and 10,752 CUDA Cores. It is interesting to note that despite the performance that it is asserted to deliver, it will not require an excessive amount of electricity. The power requirements of the new RTX 4090 will be the same as those of the generation before it, which is not very high. Nvidia, on the other hand, has disclosed the numbers, and the company suggests employing a power supply with a minimum of 850W.

The new graphics processing unit (GPU) that is the RTX 4080 comes with two different VRAM memory configurations. Buyers will have the choice of selecting either 12 or 16 gigabytes of GDDR6X VRAM for their purchases. Nevertheless, their interiors are distinct from one another.

The 12GB RTX 4080 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) has a basic clock speed of 2.31GHz and 7,680 CUDA Cores. The maximum clock speed that it can reach is 2.61 GHz. This card features 40 Shader-TFLOPs, 92 RT-TFLOPs, and 639 Tensor-TFLOPs.

On the other hand, the base clock speed of the 16GB RTX 4080 GPU is 2.21GHz, and it has a boost clock speed of 2.51GHz. In addition, it has 9,728 CUDA Cores. It possesses power in the amounts of 780 Tensor-TFLOPs, 112 RT-TFLOPs, and 49 Shader-TFLOPs respectively. Nvidia suggests utilizing a power supply with 700W when working with the 12GB model and a power supply with 750W when working with the 16GB model.

In addition to this, the playing cards have a Dual Axial Flow Through System that has been improved. More curves have been added to the corners of the Founders Edition card, making it a more attractive appearance overall. The PCI Express Gen-5 16-pin connector is supported by cards in the 40-series. Additionally, there have been some enhancements made to Ray Tracking, and support for DLSS 3.0 (Deep Learning Super Sampling) has been added to the cards.

Nvidia RTX 4090, RTX 4080 pricing and availability

The Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card will be available for purchase beginning in October at a price of $1,599 (about Rs 1,27,483) The RTX 4080, on the other hand, has a starting price of $899 (about Rs 71,674) for the 12GB VRAM variant and a starting price of $1,199 (approximately Rs 95,647) for the 16GB VRAM edition. It will be available starting in November. At first, only the Founders Edition will be accessible; but, by the end of the year, we should be able to purchase GPUs manufactured by third-party companies such as Gigabyte, Asus, Zotac, and others.
