Monday, September 26th, there was a large emergency presence at School Number 88 in Izhevsk, Udmurt, western Russia. Multiple pupils, including three children aged 10, 11, and 15, were reportedly among the victims of the incident. In the meantime, at least two educators and two security guards were murdered. The Sun said that a terrified youngster posted on social media from a classroom as the gunman rampaged through the school hallways. “We are in biology class,” she wrote. “Transferred from the classroom to the laboratory. The entire class is seated and weeping. They do not provide any information. Very terrifying.” One video saw youngsters squatting on the floor in a classroom.

However, it is suspected that the shooter committed suicide after the murderous rampage. The publication cited regional authorities as stating, “Currently, the police found the body of the man who opened fire,” Reports indicate that he committed suicide.

As of publication, no official motive has been identified for the shooting. The Investigative Committee of Russia, which investigates significant crimes, released a photograph of the Neo-Nazi gunman wearing a “black t-shirt with Nazi symbols” and a black balaclava while lying still in a classroom.

Local media reportedly published photographs of the suspect wearing a T-shirt honoring a Russian neo-nazi activist and sporting prominent swastika tattoos on his arms. Other images circulating on the internet depicted one of the pistols reportedly used by the perpetrator, along with more than a dozen bullet cartridges bearing the word “hate” scrawled in Russian.

The school, which was located near the city of Izhevsk, had 982 students in grades 1 through 11 and 80 instructors. The building has been evacuated and the area has been cordoned off with fencing. Alexander Brechalov, the regional governor of Udmurt, declared three days of mourning for the deceased and injured.

In recent years, there have been a series of school shootings in Russia. In May of last year, a young shooter in the city of Kazan shot and killed seven children and two adults. Reuters stated that in April of this year, a man entered a daycare in the central Ulyanovsk region and killed two children and a teacher before committing suicide.
